Reliable Heating & Cooling Company was founded in 1972 by Ken and Marilyn Patterson.  The company incorporated on March 20, 1980.

Reliable Heating & Cooling offers many "green" products that are not only good for our environment, these products will help keep more "green" in your pockets. In today's economic climate, investing in energy efficient products for your home is a smart choice. Reliable offers many Energy Star certified systems that often qualify for additional rebates and incentives from third parties. The federal government has been offering tax credits for the purchase of certain high efficiency equipment. 1. The new R410A air conditioners are not only ozone friendly, these units often use 1/2 or 1/3 of the energy used by your existing air conditioner.
2. "Duel-Fuel" or "hybrid" systems offer flexibility by combining a high efficiency gas furnace with an electric heat pump. These systems use smart technology that can be adjusted to use the most efficient form of energy.
3. A tankless water heater only operates when you are using hot water. Replacing your old tank water heater will lower your gas consumption, AND, with a tankless water heater you don't run out of hot water!
4. The simple installation of a programmable thermostat can lower your energy consumption using your existing equipment.
5. Installing a whole-house humidifier allows your home to feel warmer at lower thermostat settings.

Ken and Marilyn Patterson started Reliable Heating & Cooling from their home in Florissant, MO in 1972.  In those years, Reliable was primarily a "one-man" shop.  Ken was our salesman, service technician, and installer.  As the company grew, Marilyn became actively involved in the business answering phones, paying bills, and keeping the bookkeeping records.

In 1980, Reliable Heating & Cooling incorporated and the business moved to Airport Rd. in Berkeley.   During the early 1980's, Ron Hicks and Marty Galucia installed central air conditioning in many homes that had never had it previously.  And, in 1983, the company re-located back to the Florissant area.   Reliable was one of the first HVAC companies to have radio dispatched technicians.  Reliable also purchased box trucks and fabricated our sheet metal on the job in our "rolling" sheet metal shops.  Our installers still fabricate metal on the job to ensure a professional looking transition to your existing ductwork.

In 1991, the company built our current building in Vinita Park, MO.   During the 1990's, Reliable continued to provide quality installation and service to our community.  In 1994, Ken hired Ralph Frank as a service technician, and in 1997 hired Mike Schumacher as our outside sales representative.

Continuity is important in any business, especially as a family business is passed down from one generation to the next.  Reliable is proud to have customers that have continually used our services year after year.  Reliable Heating & Cooling is now replacing systems we installed over 20 years earlier.  We greatly appreciate the loyalty of such customers.  We are blessed to have quality employees, many of whom have been with the company over 10 years.  Ken and Marilyn Patterson are enjoying semi-retirement, but the foundation of quality installation and service with integrity carries on.  The quality people Ken and Marilyn hired and trained years before, are now managing the day-to-day operations.  Marty Galucia, hired as an installer, is now President of the Company.  Mike Schumacher is now our General Manager, Ron Hicks is now our Installation Manager, and Ralph Frank is now our Service Manager.   These individuals, and all of the employees at Reliable Heating & Cooling look forward to serving you with the same Christian principles and ethics you've come to expect.

Ralph Frank
Service Manager

Ralph has over 20 years of experience in the heating & cooling industry and has been employed with Reliable since 1994. Ralph was promoted to Service Manager in 2006 and oversees the service department and keeps our technicians abreast of the latest technologies and service techniques.

Ron Hicks
Installation Manager

Ron has been installing heating & cooling systems for Reliable since 1982. Many long-time customers are amazed to find that the same guy that installed their system over 25 years ago, is now installing their new high efficiency system today. Ron oversees the installation department and insures that each installation is expertly installed.

Barry has over 15 years of experience of the field, and has been with Reliable Heating & Cooling since 2006.

Jack Farley
Service Technician

Jack started in early 2007 performing maintenance, and has quickly worked his way into the service department.

Marty Galucia
President

Marty has worked in every phase of the company since 1982 when he started as an apprentice. He served as Service Manager from 1988 until 2006. In 2006, Marty succeeded Ken Patterson as President of the company. Marty oversees the day-to-day operations of the company and is still actively involved in service and installation.

Mike Schumacher
General Manager

Mike started out as an apprentice installer and residential salesman in 1997. He served as Sales Manager from 2000 until 2006. In 2006, Mike began serving as General Manager. He currently oversees the marketing, sales, and financial aspects of the company.
